I worked with Carrie for a photoshoot in March 2011. While this was not my first professional photoshoot, it was by far my favorite. Carrie's instructions were very easy for me to follow when she was asking tweaks in a pose. The fact that she is also a belly dancer is very convenient as she knew what I was looking for in the photoshoot more readily. In addition, after the photoshoot, we looked at the pictures together and discussed which ones we liked and which ones we didn't. It totally made me feel part of the process, which was greatly appreciated. I've been using one of her pics as my most frequent profile pic on Facebook and have seen a drastic increase of traffic to my page. Carrie has a knack for making you feel utterly comfortable and finding the perfect snapshot. In many of her pics, she has captured my essence. She truly has The Dancer's Eye.

It often takes a dancer to photograph dancers, and boy can Carrie photograph dancers. There a quite a lot of people out there doing "belly dance photography," and so few of them truly understand how to capture a dancer's essence the way Carrie can. And, she's an all-around great person. During studio shoots, she'll work with you to get the most out of your photos, such as assisting with poses and scoping out interesting locations. Love her!

Over the course of my bellydance career, I have learned that high quality, professional photos are essential to the success of one's career. There are several qualities which I believe make an excellent photographer. First of all, for non-performance shots, the photographer must provide a comfortable and supportive environment in order to bring out the personality of the dancer. Knowledge of flattering poses and angles is extremely important, as well. One of the traits, that I highly admire is a photographer's ability to work with their given surroundings. The Dancer's Eye Photography (Carrie Meyer) is a shining example of all of these traits. Carrie and her helpful staff are a lot of fun and immediately put the dancer at ease. In addition, her shooting time and editing turn around time are extremely efficient. As a performance photographer, Carrie is a master of capturing the perfect moment documenting the dancer's emotions and poses. It's just so wonderful to have a dancer as a photographer, in order to aniticipate the right moment to shoot. It was such a pleasure to work with The Dancer's Eye Photography. I'm so happy with my photos!

Carrie Meyer is a natural photographer. She is dedicated to her art. If you want great pictures that capture the real you, look no further. Being a dancer, especially a belly dancer, it is hard to find a photographer who understands the aesthetics of performance art and captures the movement, emotion and artistic quality of performance art, but Carrie does just that. She has not only a good eye for finding the natural beauty in everyone, but also making the model or subject feel at ease. Not only is she professional, she is reliable and innovative. She has some amazing concepts with attention to the little details that most photographers tend to overlook. This is just one of the many things that puts her above the rest. I could go on and on, but you will have to see for yourself, you will be glad you did.

Do you have an hour so i can tell you all the things i loved about working with Carrie? Oh good! Let's start with the pre-event communication: she had an answer to every question i came up with; not just an answer, but clear, concise, useful information that helped me assuage the concerns of my group of dancers, most of whom had never been to a professional shoot before. Whether via email, text, or FB, Carrie was always quick to respond to any messages i sent.
Let me tell you about the day of the shoot, wherein i was mostly a nervous wreck. Here come Carrie and her husband, all cool, calm professionalism. Not a hair out of place, no concern unaddressed, and absolutely no B.S. to be found. Carrie made me, and everyone else at the shoot, feel like absolute rock stars, and she did it without any over-the-top attitude, either. Everything about our photo sessions, individual or group, was handled with the smooth ease that comes from not only knowing your business, but truly enjoying your work.
Can we talk about the photos themselves? They. are . stunning. Across the board, from our solo sessions, to the troupe photos, to the black and white "boudoir" shots that ended the day--everything turned out absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. And as a cherry on top of this wonderful experience, Carrie had our proofs ready to view the day after our shoot, and our digital and physical prints arrived less than a week after we'd all made our order selections.
I cannot recommend Carrie highly enough. If you have the opportunity to work with her, take it! Our shoot was only a few weeks ago, and already I'm plotting to nab one of her slots at Tribal Revolution in Chicago next summer. I can't wait to work with Carrie and The Dancers Eye again!
